Hello, friends! It’s been a while, but I have been busily working behind the scenes and I am so excited for all of the summer hosting ahead of us!
Now that I have a good amount of base recipes on my website, I feel ready to share more fully built menus with you (with a mix of my own and other recipes I love).
Mother’s Day Brunch Menu Idea:
Lemon Lavender Scones: These are make ahead friendly and perfect for this time of year. You can order the lavender buds on Amazon.
Cheddar and Green Onion Scones: You can’t make these ahead unless you leave out the green onions, but these are a delicious savory option.
Yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit and granola (I’m loving Purely Elizabeth grain free granola or Trader Joe’s grain free granola). Can preassemble in small shallow cups or bowls or leave out for people to grab themselves.
Crustless Quiche recipe: Use this recipe formula and add 6 oz of shredded melty cheese like gruyere/cheddar/pepper jack. I did roasted mushrooms and blanched asparagus for my version.
Bacon or chicken sausage on the side (prep 2 per person).
Drinks:
I would serve coffee (iced and hot) and orange juice. If you want to make the orange juice a little more fun, have sparkling water or champagne for regular and mimosas.
Use this recipe to make cold foam and drizzle with salted caramel.
Decor: Get some fresh flowers that you will gift and use as a centerpiece. If you have a local florist often you can tell them your budget and what colors or flowers you want and they can put together an arrangement for you. My favorite spot even lets me bring in my own vase for the arrangement or choose one of theirs.
Use tablecloths if you can, this one is a current favorite for its beautiful embroidery and more affordable price point. To make sure you get the right size, add 1 1/2 - 2 ft to the length of your table and that’s the length tablecloth you need.
To add a little more jewelry to the table, consider adding place cards (if their are kids invited it’s so cute to have them do it), some framed pictures of the mom with her children, or some candles.

New recipes on the site:
Mole Nachos: These are genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever made. I have suggestions for store bought Mole if you don’t have time to make your own! P.S. A full menu with these Nachos will be sent to subscribers tomorrow!
Lazy Focaccia: This was one of my first recipes to go viral, and I’ve reshared it and added it to my site so it’s easier to access
The Best Biscuits You’ll Ever Have: I do not take this title lightly as someone who is from the south of the state of California and not the United States. These biscuits are flakey, buttery, salty, and you will never want to make another recipe again. Trust me on this one.
Thank you for supporting me and being apart of my newsletter! It’s been a little quieter at HIYH for the last couple of months and I hope to share more about what I’ve been working on soon. Stay tuned, friends!
Cheers!
